There was also a considerable jump in Tourism related taxes from 10/11 to 19/20 fiscal years–in 10/11 all taxes together where budgeted at $188,506, this year the town budgeted $565,000 for meals tax alone.
The town believes the harbor, as the second-largest area for lodging in town, has been a pivotal part of the revenue growth the town is witnessing.
With that in mind, Town Council has directed Mayor Dize to create and issue an RFP for a harbor management group to take over the day to day operations.
The RFP is due for release in February or March of 2020.
