  1. I agree, both Republicans and Democrats like to spend money to give their voters what they want. But the voters don’t want to pay for any of that. Here are some suggestions on how to balance the budget

    1) Get the %^^k out of Irak, Afghanistan, etc. When the citizens of those country are ready to change, they will. In Romania we didn’t need US to overthrow the communism. We spent 6000 Billion dollars on “the war on terror” and what what did we get for that? ISIS.

    2) End the “war on drugs”. It does’t work and costs something to the tune of 10B a year. See Portugal’s approach. not perfect, but better then what we have now.

    3) Spend some of the money saved so far to tackle obesity. Reducing that by even a small factor will save huge costs in healthcare. How to tackle obesity? How the hell should I know, but there are people who have ideas. Invest some money in some pilot programs and find out if it works.

    4) I know the audience of this publication abhors the notion of national healthcare. But ALL other countries that have it, SPEND LESS MONEY ON HEALTHCARE (per capita) and get better results.
