  1. 200,000 tons of menhaden taken each year = 400,000,000 pounds of the little fish! Even if it is assumed each fish weighs a pound (that is the average for a 6 year-old fish and younger fish weigh less than a lb.), that is four hundred million fish killed per year! There were under 326 million people in the United States in 2017. Put into perspective, that means there are more menhaden killed each year than there are U.S. people. Fishing regulators need to lower the allowed amount of menhaden killed by firms like Omega! More menhaden living in the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic will allow for the populations of larger species of fish, birds and mammals (like dolphins), to thrive. … and produce a better ecosystem for the other marine life in the Chesapeake Bay to thrive.

    1. What you say is logical ; like it makes sense .

The Virginia General Assembly is in charge of one fishery; the menhaden fishery .THAT’S NOT LOGICAL .

All other Virginia fisheries are controlled by VMRC .
