Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled its next seminar, “Seeking Franz Ferdinand: A Self-Guided Tour of 2014 Austria-Hungary.” The free 90-minute seminar will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 10 in the Lecture Hall of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Mark Nuckols will explore the seven countries that used to be the Austro-Hungarian Empire and through travelogue, photos, and video describe how they remember the outbreak of World War I.
Nuckols, who lives here on the Shore, has spent seven years in the Czech Republic and Slovakia teaching English, researching linguistics, and singing in choirs. He is currently writing a book on his 2014 experience.
