(Onley, VA) – Riverside on the Eastern Shore will observe National Cancer Survivors Day on Friday June 30th with an open house at the Riverside Shore Cancer Center. From 8am through 4pm, survivors can visit the Center, ring the Bell of Hope, and enjoy light refreshments. Costumes are encouraged for a favorite Hollywood character, especially a superhero.
This 30th annual event is a national celebration of living well after a cancer diagnosis. It is a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families touched by cancer, and an opportunity for communities to learn more about cancer in general and specifically about the survivorship resources in their area.
On the Shore, the Cancer Center partners with the American Cancer Society and other local healthcare agencies to provide support for survivors from the time of diagnosis through recovery and back to everyday health. Survivorship services include a care plan for patients who finish active treatment as well as lifelong comprehensive oncological follow up care. The Cancer Center is a resource for the entire Shore community and welcomes inquiries about the services available. For more information, call 757-302-2600.
