ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. — The Virginia Marine Resources Commission is accepting public comment on an application for oyster planting grounds in Wachapreague Channel.
Zachary Thornton has applied for approximately 15.6 acres of oyster planting ground in the channel, which is located in Accomack County. The proposed site is identified at latitude 37-36.3774 North and longitude 75-38.5974 West. The application number is 2025044.
Members of the public may view a map of the proposed oyster planting area and submit comments online by searching the application number on the VMRC oyster ground applications webpage.
Written comments or concerns may also be sent to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Shellfish Management Division, 380 Fenwick Road, Fort Monroe, VA 23651-1064. Questions regarding the application can be directed to the VMRC Shellfish Management Division at 757-247-2262.

Public input will be considered as part of the commission’s review process before any decision is made on the application.
