Open lots continue to be purchased, and new construction continues its upward trend in the Cape Charles Historic District. This week, the Historic District Review Board met to review two more applications for Certificates of Appropriateness for new construction.
723 Tazewell
An application has been received for a Certificate of Appropriateness for new construction of a single-family residential dwelling at 723 Tazewell. The new home will be built on a 5300 square foot lot. Construction is a two-story dwelling of approximately two-thousand two-hundred and seventy-six (2,276) square feet. The proposed surface is 5 inch vinyl siding. The roofing material throughout the building is thirty (30) year architectural shingles.

400 Madison
An application has been received for a Certificate of Appropriateness from the property owner for new construction of a single-family residential dwelling at the above location. To date the lot does not have a street address and was a town-owned undeveloped parcel until recently. This is a two-story dwelling of approximately two thousand one-hundred and fifty (2,150) square feet. The building cladding is cement-based plank siding. The roofing material throughout the building is metal. The applicant has presented a complete application with proposed building elevations and notations.
