The Republican Party of Virginia State Central Committee (SCC) met Monday via zoom. The SCC unanimously approved to allow those that are registered as delegates that are observing their Sabbath on Saturdays to vote on Friday afternoons. Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, Rich Anderson did consult with a Rabbi prior to picking the times. Most of the discussion took place in the executive session.
After the executive session, the committee voted to approve delegate actions to accommodate members of the Orthodox Jewish community.
SCC also approved the Rules Committee report. Due to the high number of delegates filed to vote on May 8th (near 40,000 people have signed up to vote), all ballots will be collected at the close of voting and taken to Richmond to be counted. The National Republican Committee has offered to help with counting.
The Rules committee agreed to the Australian method of counting. Ballot counting will be time consuming- there will be ranked choice voting and the votes will be weighted. There are no machines available to use. SCC approved hand counting.
