Up to $700,000 for new projects to be awarded in Fiscal Year 2023.
NOAA – This year, the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office is offering two funding opportunities to support school district-wide and regional environmental literacy efforts. A total of up to $700,000, subject to appropriations, may be available to fund between five and seven new projects.
Students who learn about their environment are better prepared to help lead a healthier, more resilient way forward in the future. That’s why we support environmental education efforts that include meaningful watershed educational experiences (MWEEs).
The Chesapeake Bay Watershed Education and Training program—Chesapeake B-WET—funds projects that provide hands-on environmental education about issues affecting the Bay watershed for students through MWEEs. They also support professional development for K-12 educators. Funded projects ensure MWEEs are available to all students in a given school district or even state.
Funding Opportunities
Growing School District Capacity
Funding will support projects to help school districts deliver MWEEs to students or to increase school districts’ capacity to deliver environmental education. We anticipate up to $450,000 in total funding for four to six new projects.
Supporting Regional Capacity Building
This funding will support an initiative to build regional capacity to deliver environmental education. It will provide up to $250,000 for one project.
