Upon entering Don Valerio’s, guests are greeted by an atmosphere that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Traditional Mexican artwork adorns the walls, setting the stage for a cultural journey through the country’s culinary roots. The Mirror loves everything Mexican, from Mexico City soccer to all aspects of the country’s diverse cuisine–so yes, Don Valerio’s is one of our favorite places.
The menu, meticulously curated, showcases a remarkable array of dishes that celebrate the flavors and ingredients that make Mexican cuisine so distinct. Donnie V’s nails the traditional favorites with a delectable array of Burritos, both Carne and Pollo. The Burrito California is a nice take–a Burrito filled with grilled chicken or steak, lettuce, shredded cheese, rice, and beans. Topped with nacho cheese and pico de gallo.
The Chimichanga fried or soft, is always perfect (whether you prefer Carne Asada, Pollo, or even shrimp).
They tackle regional specialties such as the Salad Azteca, grilled shrimp, chicken, and mushrooms over a bed of lettuce, tomato, cheese, and pico de gallo, and the Shrimp Fajita with authenticity and finesse. Note: All fajitas are cooked with bell pepper, onion, and tomato and served with guacamole salad, a choice of rice and beans, and three flour tortillas.
If you are vegetarian, this is the place for you. Don Valerio’s offers a mouth-watering veggie quesadilla, fajitas, chalupas, and the Mirror favorite, Chiles Rellenos with rice and beans (fantastic!).
Honestly, you can’t go wrong. Order anything on the menu and it will be delicious…each dish is a testament to Don Valerio’s dedication to serving the best dishes while preserving the essence of Mexican tradition.
Siempre es delicioso y divertido!

Scotiagirl agrees that the menu choices are very good, authentic and well prepared… But, “Donnie V’s”??????????? That is insulting both to the restaurant and to its Hispanic name. Stop trying to be CUTE.
Note: Locals (not come-heres) call it Donnie V’s.
A real quick history lesson:
North America was settled by Anglo/Celts and has enjoyed prosperity, peace and freedom unparalleled in human history.
Central and South America were settled by Hispanics, and have has revolutions, generalissimos, poverty, disease and strife forever.
For many years, the Rich Men North of Richmond want to bring that Eden of “diversity” here.
NO THANK YOU!
Why so MEAN? Scotiagirl likes the “locals” and has taken the time to show many how to cook and get the best out of a lobster!
They are such nice people! Friendly greeting. Fast servive. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? Raymindo & Cecelia are The Best.
