The Virginia Saltwater Sportfishing Association is sponsoring a screening of the new documentary about Atlantic Menhaden called “The Biggest Little Fish You’ve Never Seen” on November 2 at 6:30 pm at the Eastern Shore Community College, 29316 Lankford Highway, Melfa, VA, in the Workforce Development Building.
Mr. Academia will be on a speaker panel following the screening. For those who were not at the October 10 program, Mr. Academia presented his research on causation for osprey chick mortality in Mobjack Bay (unfortunately, the cause is starvation).
The situation keeps getting worse, with only 3 chicks fledging out of 83 active nests in 2023. The Center for Conservation Biology at the College of William and Mary is encouraging birders on the Eastern Shore to sign up for Osprey Watch (www.osprey-watch.org) to keep track of our local nest successes and failures.

I'd like to see the costs for the increases in renewable energy.
