CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has announced a public hearing slated for Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. The hearing is set to take place at the Cape Charles Civic Center, located at 500 Tazewell Avenue.
The primary focus of the hearing will revolve around an application lodged by Gerry Forbes and Barrett Cree, contesting the decision of the Historic District Review Board. The Board, in a ruling dated November 27, 2023, had denied Forbes and Cree’s application, which sought an extension for the Fence Certificate of Appropriateness at 114 Pine Street. Notably, this certificate had expired on July 21, 2022. The appeal, authorized in accordance with Cape Charles Zoning Ordinance Section 8.33, pertains to a property located within the Residential-1 (R-1) Zoning District and falls within the Historic District Overlay.
Following the public hearing, the Town Council will convene a meeting to deliberate on the appeal’s application.
