CAPE CHARLES, Va. – The Cape Charles Capital Projects Manager has provided updates on several key initiatives, detailing the progress and ongoing efforts in various infrastructure projects within the town.
The final progress billing for the Peach Street project is currently under review by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The contractor’s billing reflects an approved change order that adjusts the project’s completion date due to several design changes implemented during construction. Additionally, the contractor has been requested to address a minor issue with the lighting control system to ensure its proper functioning.
In response to concerns regarding trash management for the residential units at 209 Mason Avenue, the Capital Projects Manager has resolved the issue by arranging for these units to be serviced by the small dumpster located behind the library building. This solution is expected to streamline waste collection and maintain cleanliness in the area.
The review of the Town Code provisions related to water and wastewater has been completed. The recommended revisions, which take into account the divestiture of these systems, have been forwarded to the Building Code Official and Town Planner for further input. These updates aim to ensure that the Town Code accurately reflects the current management and operational structures of the water and wastewater systems.
