CAPE CHARLES, Va. – The Cape Charles Code Official has released an extensive report detailing recent activities and progress on various construction and inspection projects across the town.
In a busy period, the Code Official performed 32 inspections and issued 17 permits. Additionally, two rental inspection applications were processed, with one rental inspection completed.
Significant progress was noted in the review of plans for new homes in multiple areas. A permit will be issued for a new home in Muirfield Village, while plans for a new home in Heron Pointe are under review, with additional information requested from the builder. Review of plans for a new home in The Colony has commenced and is expected to be completed next week.
A meeting with a new prospective builder was conducted to explain the permitting process and set expectations regarding review and inspection timelines. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother operations for upcoming construction projects.
The Code Official has been working closely with the Zoning Department to address issues of Demolition by Neglect in the Historic District. Notices of Violations for several houses suffering from neglect will be sent out via certified mail, emphasizing the town’s commitment to preserving its historic integrity.
Progress continues in the Dreams by the Water subdivision, with the contractor awaiting the testing of water and wastewater systems before commencing road work. This project is moving forward, with infrastructure testing as a critical next step.
Commercial projects on the 200 block of Mason Avenue are also advancing steadily. The project at 225 Mason Avenue is on track for completion by the end of the month, marking a significant milestone in the development of this commercial corridor.
