Cape Charles Police Department Reports Busy Week Ahead of July 4th Celebration

CAPE CHARLES, Va. — As Cape Charles gears up for its highly anticipated July 4th celebration, the town’s police department has been hard at work ensuring safety and security. This week, the Cape Charles Police Department responded to 17 calls for service, assisted the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office on three occasions, and made two arrests for assault and battery.

In addition to these calls, officers conducted building checks, issued traffic summons, addressed code violations, and carried out foot patrols. The department also had seven interactions involving golf carts.

Last week, Officers Matthews and Yee completed extensive training, including BOLA wrap training, OC (oleoresin capsicum) spray training, and TASER training. These training sessions are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to equip officers with the skills and knowledge needed to handle a variety of situations effectively.

As Cape Charles welcomes an influx of visitors for the holiday, the police department is prepared to address any issues that may arise. The community is encouraged to celebrate responsibly and to reach out to local law enforcement with any concerns.
