CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Manager provided a comprehensive update on several ongoing initiatives during the past week, including significant progress on the beachfront master planning project. Last week, the Town Manager participated in a Council work session where the project’s concepts were discussed and reviewed. The Council’s feedback is being incorporated into the plan, which is expected to be finalized next week. Following this, the revised concepts will be presented to the public for input through a virtual meeting room. This online platform will include the project’s research, historical context, and current draft concepts for public review.
In other business, the Town Manager:
- Coordinated with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on requirements for the ongoing Rails to Trails project.
- Worked with Canonie Atlantic to secure a Virginia Resources Authority lease consent.
- Addressed an internal personnel issue.
- Sent a letter to Kelly’s Gingernut Pub outlining waste management issues and the process following the privatization of the property behind the Library.
- Continued to respond to queries from potential responders to the town’s recruitment Request for Proposals (RFP).
- Reviewed applications and resumes for the open Treasurer position.
- Handled eight “Report a Concern” or other citizen contacts.
