CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Memorial Library (CCML) has experienced a significant uptick in activity, with 916 visitors passing through its doors in the past week, according to the latest report from the Library Manager. During this period, the library circulated 499 items and provided notary services to one patron.
The Library Manager attended an American Library Association (ALA) eLearning webinar focused on weeding collections, as part of ongoing professional development. Additionally, the manager completed and submitted the Eastern Shore Public Library (ESPL) system report to the ESPL Director.
Efforts to review and update CCML policies are currently underway, with these updates scheduled for discussion at the next Board meeting. The library has also been actively engaging the community through its Summer Reading Challenge, with 101 registrants participating in the program. Weekly participant prizes are being awarded as the challenge progresses.
In preparation for the upcoming school year and the town’s LOVEFEST, the library has created book displays featuring “Back to School” and “Feel the Love” themes. Library staff also assisted the Planning Board by printing meeting packets and reorganized the children’s browsing bin to reflect new themes.
Staff members have been busy leading and hosting a variety of programs, confirming upcoming events, and creating passive activities. They are also making preparations for the library’s End of Summer event, including organizing craft activities for patrons.
The Cape Charles Memorial Library continues to be a hub of community activity, providing essential services and engaging programs as the summer season draws to a close.
