CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town Manager of Cape Charles has been actively involved in a range of projects and meetings over the past week, providing key updates on several initiatives.
The manager recently met with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) design team to discuss the ongoing Rails to Trails project. One of the challenges being addressed is how to prevent golf carts from using the designated path. Additionally, the town has committed to relocating the bus shelter currently located at the intersection of Fig and Mason streets to avoid conflicts with the planned trailhead.
In a meeting with corporate leadership from Virginia American Water (VAW), the mayor, vice mayor, and town manager discussed the progress of the transition of utility ownership.
The Town Manager also finalized the position announcement for the vacant assistant to the Town Manager role and incorporated feedback from the Town Council on the draft short-term rental regulations. These drafts have been sent to the town attorney for further review.
In other updates, contract negotiations have been finalized with a recruitment consultant, and a recommendation will soon be presented to the Town Council. Discussions also took place with the town’s harbor contractor regarding potential management transitions.
Lastly, the manager addressed five citizen concerns submitted through the town’s Report a Concern system.
