Eastern Shore Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to announce that Nicholas Thomas of Atlantic was appointed to the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board by Governor Glenn Youngkin. Nick is the owner of Thomas Family Farms LLC and is the current board Chair for the Eastern Shore Soil and Water Conservation District.
The Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board was established by the General Assembly to help guide the delivery of soil and water conservation services to citizens of the commonwealth. The board is supported mainly by DCR staff for programs covering soil and water conservation and dam safety and floodplain management.
The Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board is tasked with the oversight and support of Virginia’s soil and water conservation districts, including financial support, coordination, information exchange, the formation of districts, and adjustments to their boundaries as well other specified duties.
