CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board is set to hold its next meeting on Sunday, January 21, at 5:00 p.m., with an agenda highlighting organizational updates and a renovation request for a historic property.
Organizational Meeting
The board plans to welcome two new members, Joan Cooper and Ken Monarch, to its ranks. Additionally, elections will be held to fill the roles of Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary, as stipulated in the board’s bylaws, which designate February as the official time for leadership appointments. Notably, the Vice-Chair position is currently vacant, and all roles will be subject to a vote. The board will also appoint a representative to the Harbor Area Review Board.
Renovations and Additions
On the agenda is a proposal for renovations at 500 Monroe Avenue, a two-story single-family dwelling owned by John McLaughlin. The request involves replacing six existing wood windows with vinyl windows. The review board will assess whether the proposed changes align with the town’s historic preservation standards.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for public input and deliberation on these matters. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in shaping the decisions that impact the town’s historic character.
