CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Capital Projects Manager for the Town of Cape Charles has been busy advancing several key initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure and community development.
During the past week, the manager collaborated with the Town Attorney and a developer to review a draft access easement for the Library Redevelopment project. This project is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown area.
The manager also participated in a Town Council work session on the Beachfront Master Plan, a project designed to enhance public access and amenities along the town’s scenic coastline.
Additionally, coordination with the Assistant Treasurer was completed to finalize data for closing out the town’s reporting on funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Progress was made on the workforce housing development, with the manager communicating the Town Council’s intent to move forward with a potable water main project to Virginia American Water (VAW). This effort is tied to the KW1 and KW2 wells pipelines project. The manager also reviewed recommended revisions from VAW’s legal counsel regarding easements and property conveyances for the same project.
Work is also progressing at the harbor, where plans for the reconstruction of the boardwalk are being finalized. The first phase will feature synthetic decking instead of the originally planned concrete. An Invitation for Bid for the project is expected to be issued next week.
