Northampton 4-H Seeks Volunteers for Real-World Financial Simulation

CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Northampton County 4-H program is calling for volunteers to help with an upcoming financial literacy event designed to give local ninth graders a taste of real-world money management.

The event, titled Real Money. Real World., will take place at Northampton High School on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will assist students as they navigate financial simulation booths that mimic real-life expenses, including housing, transportation, and childcare. The interactive experience aims to teach students about budgeting, financial decision-making, and the cost of living.

“This is a great opportunity to make an impact on local youth and help prepare them for financial independence,” said Erin Morgan, the Northampton 4-H agent organizing the event.

The initiative is part of Virginia Cooperative Extension’s efforts to provide hands-on learning experiences for students. Volunteers will play a key role in guiding participants through financial scenarios and helping them understand the long-term effects of their choices.
