CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at 5 p.m. to review three applications for Certificates of Appropriateness involving significant residential construction and renovation within the town’s historic district.
The application for 505 Harbor Avenue proposes the construction of a rear deck and pergola, along with the installation of pavers.
At 502 Plum Street, the applicant seeks approval for a comprehensive renovation project. Plans include replacing windows, the roof, and siding; rebuilding the front steps; opening the currently enclosed front porch; constructing a second-floor rear addition; renovating the existing side deck; and installing a rear outdoor shower.
The third application, for a vacant lot identified as Tax Map #83A3-1-547 on Mason Avenue, calls for the construction of a new single-family dwelling.
The Historic District Review Board evaluates such projects to ensure consistency with the town’s historic preservation guidelines. All proposed changes must align with the architectural character of Cape Charles’ designated historic district.
