CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles is seeking residents interested in becoming more involved in local government, with several vacancies remaining on town boards and commissions.
Vacant positions are currently available on the Board of Zoning Appeals, Building Code Board of Appeals, and Historic District Review Board.
Town officials are encouraging Cape Charles citizens who are interested in serving on one of these boards—or any of the town’s other boards and commissions—to submit an application.
Serving on a town board provides residents with an opportunity to participate directly in decisions affecting Cape Charles. Depending on the board, members may review zoning matters, building code appeals, historic preservation issues, development proposals, and other matters that can have a lasting impact on the community.
Interested residents should complete the Town’s Application for Boards and Commission and return it to Town Clerk Libby Hume.
Applications may be delivered in person to 412 Tazewell Avenue, mailed to P.O. Box 191, Cape Charles, VA 23310, or emailed to clerk@capecharles.org.
Once a sufficient number of applications have been received, interviews will be scheduled with the Cape Charles Town Council, which will make the appointments.
The Town also expressed its appreciation to residents who currently volunteer their time on Cape Charles boards and the Planning Commission.
“Thank you to all the members of the Town’s Boards and Planning Commission for volunteering their time to serve the community in this capacity,” the Town stated. “We value the knowledge that you bring to the group and your continued dedication to the Town.”
For residents who have considered becoming more involved in Cape Charles civic affairs, the current vacancies offer an opportunity to take an active role in the decisions and processes that help shape the town.
