CAPE CHARLES, Va. β As the town prepares for its annual Independence Day celebrations, Cape Charles Public Works crews have been working at full capacity this week to meet seasonal demands and address a growing list of resident concerns.
βThis has been a challenging week,β said the townβs Public Works Manager, Ralph Bowen, citing a heavy volume of Report-a-Concern submissions and emails from the business district. Despite the pressure, the team has made progress on several key projects and holiday preparations.
Crews installed the large tent on the beachfront and replaced the water fountain at the beach bathroom, just in time for the holiday rush. They also assisted the local Splash Camp by delivering a load of sand, and brought a new volleyball net to the beach. The court outline, which was unusable from last year, has been reordered.
Public Works staff have been working to stay on top of trash removal and bathroom maintenance, which see increased demand during the summer season. βAt this time of year, our schedule is completely loaded with general maintenance around town,β the manager said, emphasizing that staff are addressing issues as quickly as possible.
βWeβre doing everything we can to minimize the impact and keep the town looking great for residents and visitors alike,β the Bowen added.
