CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Volunteers are invited to take part in the upcoming Catch the King Eastern Shore Volunteer Training on Monday, September 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. at UVA’s Coastal Research Center, 6364 Cliffs Road, Cape Charles.
The training is part of the annual Catch the King initiative, which engages community members in tracking and documenting the year’s highest astronomical tide, known as the “King Tide.” Data collected by volunteers helps scientists study tidal flooding and its impact on coastal communities.
Organized by the Virginia Master Naturalists Eastern Shore Chapter in partnership with the University of Virginia Coastal Research Center and Wetlands Watch, the program aims to build a network of trained volunteers prepared to contribute to vital coastal resilience research.
