The Northampton Historic Preservation Society will present a Lecture on the Lawn, The History of Willis Wharf: An Active, Working. Seafood Community.
Time: Sunday, October 5th at 2:00 p.m.
Place: the Willis Wharf Boat Ramp
Admission: FREE (donations gratefully accepted!)

The early history of this area, the development of the village and the story of several Willis Wharf families will be discussed. Learn about the Downing, Willis, Walker, Ballard, Terry, and other families. Was Willis Wharf the site of an ocean-going shipbuilding facility? Who were George Bigelow, Richard Bayly Winder and Edward Littleton Willis? Did President Grover Cleveland come to Willis Wharf? Some history of the Seafood Industry will also be presented.
Adequate parking, a large grassy area, restroom facilities, and an observation deck for beautiful views of the village and seaside marsh.
There will be a raffle of an original watercolor painting of E.L. WILLIS by Hugh Scott. Tickets are $5/ea. Drawing will follow the lecture.
