CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council will hold its regular meeting Thursday, Dec. 18, with several items on the agenda, including downtown restroom facilities, proposed changes to the town’s Comprehensive Plan related to housing, and updates to the town’s Transient Occupancy Tax code.
Council members are scheduled to discuss the status of downtown restrooms, an issue that has drawn ongoing public interest as the town balances tourism demands with infrastructure needs.
Also on the agenda is a proposed text amendment to the Comprehensive Plan addressing housing and accessory dwelling units. The amendment is expected to focus on long-term planning goals related to housing availability and development standards.
In addition, the council will consider proposed changes to the town code governing the Transient Occupancy Tax, specifically Sections 18-196 and 18-198. The tax applies to short-term lodging and is a key revenue source for the town, particularly during peak tourist seasons.
A public comment period is included in the meeting, with speakers limited to three minutes each. Town officials encourage residents to attend and share their views on the agenda items.
The meeting will take place at Town Hall and is open to the public.
