CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles has announced a temporary closure of its public beach as crews prepare to undertake maintenance work aimed at improving conditions ahead of the busy spring and summer season.
According to town officials, Cape Charles Beach will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27, due to the presence of heavy machinery and ongoing maintenance operations. The closure is intended to protect residents, visitors, and pets while Public Works crews carry out the project.
Officials noted that the timeline may extend through the weekend if weather conditions delay progress.
The planned work is part of the town’s broader effort to maintain and enhance one of Cape Charles’ most popular and valuable public amenities. While specific project details were not outlined, such efforts typically include sand management, dune maintenance, and shoreline improvements designed to preserve the beachfront and improve visitor experience.
Town staff are urging the public to respect all posted signage and avoid entering the beach area during the closure period.
