CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Gardeners across Virginia’s Eastern Shore will have a chance to receive free expert advice this growing season as the Eastern Shore of Virginia Master Gardeners return to the Cape Charles Memorial Library for a series of monthly question-and-answer sessions.
The program, titled “Ask a Master Gardener,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on the fourth Thursday of each month from April through September 2026 at the Cape Charles Memorial Library.
Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions on a wide range of gardening topics, including vegetable gardening, native plants, pollinator habitats, soil health, pest management, landscaping challenges, and seasonal growing tips tailored to Eastern Shore conditions.
Scheduled dates for the program are:
- April 23
- May 28
- June 25
- July 23
- August 27
- September 24
Visitors can also take advantage of the library’s growing Seed Library, which offers free seed packets to help residents start or expand their gardens. Available selections include GMO-free Eastern Shore native wildflower seeds, vegetable seeds, fruit seeds, and herb seeds.
Library officials note that households may check out up to four seed packets per month. The Seed Library is available during regular library hours.

The program is part of an ongoing partnership between the Cape Charles Memorial Library and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, whose volunteers provide research-based horticultural education and outreach throughout the region.
With interest in home gardening, native plants, and pollinator-friendly landscapes continuing to grow, organizers say the monthly sessions offer residents an opportunity to connect directly with experienced local gardeners and receive reliable guidance for their gardening projects.
The Cape Charles Memorial Library is located at 201 Mason Avenue. Participation in the program is free and open to the public.
