The Town of Cape Charles delivered a “Chamber of Commerce” day (72 degrees and crystal clear blue skies) for the awards ceremony which was conducted near the foot of the town pier where the anglers qualified for the award.
Cape Charles Mayor George Proto teamed up with Joe Smith of Fish Dispatch, USA, this past Sunday, October 16th, to present Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) Junior Angler Awards to brothers Michael and Eric Guerra of Eastville and Jack Barker of Oak Hall.
The VMRC Junior Angler Award is earned by anglers fifteen years of age and younger who catch and release six different saltwater fish species in one year. The award is signed by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in addition to the Commissioner of VMRC.
The awards were submitted on behalf of the anglers based on their catches scored at the July 27th – 30th Queen of the Bay (QOB) Pier Tourney held in Cape Charles, VA. Complete results from the tourney may be found here:
Three other anglers outside of the Eastern Shore also earned the VMRC honors: Jack Barker of Dovington, PA; and brothers Nate and Evan Crouse of Hamilton, VA.
