Academy for Lifetime Learning announces Scholarship Winners

July 24, 2022 by Wayne Creed Leave a Comment

The Academy for Lifetime Learning is pleased to award $1500 scholarships to three Eastern Shore of Virginia high school graduates. Winners of the 2022 scholarships are Angelina Joynes, a graduate of Nandua High School who plans to begin her studies at Tidewater Community College and then transfer to Virginia Tech to study electrical engineering.  She graduated in the top 15 of her class and was very active in school sports.  Hailey Sturgis graduated from Broadwater Academy and will attend Sweet Briar College. She plans to study biology and hopes to become an equine physical therapist.  She did her internship at Eastern Shore Animal Hospital and enjoys working with rescue horses.  Hannah Bradford was home-schooled and will attend Lee University. She will study mathematics and plans to be a K-12 teacher.  She was a math tutor at ESCC and led a weekly girl’s Bible study at her home during 11th and 12th grades.

A.L.L. is a non-profit organization that offers courses to the community taught by volunteer Eastern Shore residents with expertise in a particular field.  For a $25 enrollment fee, a person may take as many classes as fit into his or her schedule.  The money goes for scholarships for graduates of local high schools.  Past course offerings include kayak trips, line dancing, bocce ball, Eastern Shore history, yoga, marine biology, and much,  much more.  To learn more about our organization, visit our website at allesva.org.
