ACCOMAC, Va. — The Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission, in collaboration with the Eastern Shore of Virginia Ground Water Committee, is offering a Residential Water Well Testing Program for residents of Accomack and Northampton counties. This program aims to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water sourced from private wells.
Residents may qualify for water testing if they meet any of the following criteria:
- They have a working shallow well/Columbia well on their property.
- There is a pumphouse on their property.
- They have an older drinking water well or a private septic field that may not meet current standards.
Properties connected to town water supplies are not eligible for testing. The sample will be collected from the spigot closest to the well, and pictures of the well may be requested.
Interested residents should contact the A-NPDC office at:
- Address: 23372 Front Street / P.O. Box 417, Accomac, Virginia 23301
- Phone: 757-787-2936
Alternatively, residents can fill out the questionnaire available online at forms.gle/HpUHzcWU1uGz2gSoo6.
Submissions must be received by August 13, 2024. This program is available in limited quantities and aims to provide vital information about water safety to residents relying on private wells.
