Another event and wedding venue proposed for the Cherrystone community was denied by the Northampton County Board of Supervisors.
Supervisors’ concerns centered around the venue being in too close proximity to other residents. The additional noise and traffic would have an overall adverse effect on the neighborhood.
The location, called Huntington Farm, was proposed to host 40 weddings and events annually. The county’s Planning Commissions approved a permit for the venue last week.
The applicant’s attorney Andre Wiggins, told the Supervisors that the owners of the property agreed to limit events to 200 people.
“This is not economic development…This is neighborhood destruction,” said Supervisor John Coker.

So, do we have too many chiefs ? Who gets to decide if there will be weddings there ? Why is there more than one entity even weighing in here ? The Planning Commission approves it, and then the BOS says no. Whose decision rules ? Is one entity opining and speaking when they shouldn’t ? If the BOS rules then why even ask the Planning Commission in the first place? OR, because these two groups disagree, then who is the 3rd entity to make the final decision ? It seems like there is a disagreement here when only one group should be making the decision. What gives ? The elimination of such disagreements didn’t happen a long time ago by simply making one group be The Voice That Matters ? Gheeeeezz….doesn’t seem appropriate or professional.
This would certainly be neighborhood destruction, it must be denied.
