Checked the website. Apartments are 290 square feet. Cost is $990/month plus $200/month utilities, plus if you have a dog or cat (weight restricted at 25 pounds), that’s an extra $45/month. So if you make $20/hour and work 40 hours/week and bring home $690 after taxes, that rent is about 45% give or take of your monthly salary. Bump that down to $15/hour, 40 hours a week, (take home of $525/week), that rent is well over 50% of your monthly pay.
The definition of workforce housing as I understand it is about 32% of your income, all in.
Note that an earlier article in the CCM said the apartments would be sized at 350 square feet approximately. Note that the bed is within arms reach of the couch, practically. I have several calls into the number on their website because I am not sure if that price ($1240/month) covers everything they say it does (the site says “furnished apartments available).

That rent is about 25% higher than the national average (per sq. ft). How can that be called affordable? Not to mention living in an 18’x18′ box.

GREAT for tourists…A lot less expensive than Bay Creek rentals!
