The Arts Enter Academy of Theater Arts is a foundational course that introduces the basic concepts of characterization through improvisational exercises, some reading and text analysis, and scene study. During the semester, the course works on the development of the actor’s voice, such as vocal range, improved articulation, and the ability to use the voice as an instrument.
The physical aspect of acting, presence on the stage, training and development of the actor’s body to develop optimal range of movement and creative potential for the actor is also integral to the program. The elements of dance are key to this process: use of time, space, and imagination will play a vital role in our view of Movement Theater.
Stagecraft will be another aspect of theater that some students may want to engage in. An introduction to the behind-the-scenes elements of a theater production such as scenery construction and painting, drafting, sound, digital electronics, stage management, and production organization are developed through stage crew experiences.
Performance: Students will be involved in one to two performances during the semester. The performances, called ‘Dancicles’ are a collaboration with our sister program, Arts Enter School of Dance.
Ages 10 – 18
Classes are every Friday from 5 to 6:30, however Saturday and Sunday Rehearsals will begin in October for the Halloween Show, and late November for the Christmas Show.
Fee: $75 per student per semester.
