Seminar: Man Woman Birth Death Infinity
Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled its next seminar, “MAN WOMAN BIRTH DEATH INFINITY.” The free 90-minute seminar will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 17 in Room 113 of the brand-spanking-new building of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Art Fournier will explore what knowledge and wisdom can be gathered from the study of these two driving forces of evolution, Sex and Death.
Fournier is a retired medical educator. As a result of his work teaching and caring for dying patients in Miami and in Haiti, as well as personal tragedy in his own family, few are as qualified to speak on the forensic, biologic, psychological and social aspects of death and dying. Sex, not so much, but he plans to tap into the collective wisdom of the audience on this subject…
100 mph Car Chase on CBBT
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Delaware man went over 100 miles per hour during a pursuit on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Sunday night before crashing in Virginia Beach, police say.
The pursuit started around 10 p.m. on the Eastern Shore side of the bridge-tunnel. CBBT Police Chief Edward Spencer said the suspect’s vehicle was stuck in an EZ Pass lane at the toll plaza, and officers smelled marijuana when they went over to help.
The driver then took off, with police giving chase until speeds got too high. Spencer says the suspect, Devlin Dalonte Smith-Coleman, of Wilmington, topped 100 mph.
Is Northam trying to create Charlottesville II?
RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency Wednesday in advance of expected demonstrations on Capitol Square on Monday, January 20, 2020.
Northam claimed at a press conference Wednesday that law enforcement intelligence analysts have identified credible threats of violence surrounding the event, along with white nationalist rhetoric and plans by out-of-state militia groups to attend.
The Governor’s declaration prohibits all weapons, including firearms, from Capitol grounds. According to Northam, these measures will provide joint law enforcement and public safety agencies the resources they need to keep demonstrators, policymakers, and all Virginians safe.
This emergency declaration is temporary and extends from Friday, January 17 at 5:00 PM until Tuesday, January 21 at 5:00 PM.
Virginia Democrats have made it a legislative priority to enact gun control measures in the state of Virginia. Over 100 towns and counties have declared themselves ‘Second Amendment Sanctuaries.’ Anywhere between 30,000 and 100,000 Virginians are expected to show up to Richmond on Monday, January 21 to protest gun control measures.
Because there’s no electoral college in the state’s elections, heavily populated northern Virginia (which includes areas just outside of the very liberal D.C.) determines the state representatives — even if those elected leaders do not reflect the majority of the state’s populous. That’s how leaders like Democratic Governor Northam gain power, and that’s how strict gun laws are enacted — something Virginia citizens have recently decided they’d like to fight.
But when Northam, and other state legislators, caught wind of the protest, the governor banned all citizens from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights at the state Capitol.
Northam is making a political point, escalating the situation, rubbing salt in the wound, and effectively lumping all law-abiding citizens under the “radical right” umbrella.
While Antifa groups are most famous for sometimes-violent protests against right-wing groups, the Richmond-based Antifa Seven Hills is joining 2nd Amendment supporters in support of gun rights.
“I think it’s been pretty important for us to focus on the fact that gun control in America has a legacy of racist enforcement,” Seven Hills spokesperson James told Vice, requesting that his last name be withheld from publication. “Like taking guns away from black people, because black people were perceived as a threat to property and the sanctity of the state.”
Several leftist gun rights groups have formed in response to the election of President Trump. This includes Redneck Revolt, which was established in 2016, and the Socialist Rifle Association, which was formed in 2018 and has chapters in all 50 states.
“I think what’s particular about the South is that we have to be a bit more creative and sensitive to the people around us — instead of fulfilling some sort of meme of what antifa is,” James said. “That’s really what we’re trying to work against right now, especially by talking to conservatives and showing we aren’t just a black-clad group of rabble-rousers who are out for attention and have jobs funded by George Soros.”
However, social media reports have warned ANTIFA is planning to infiltrate the rally to start a fight, ” “I’m in Richmond and have just received information from a very reliable source concerning Monday’s rally against the legislature’s gun grabs. Antifa has rented seven buses to bring in their thugs to cause trouble. The report says they will be wearing MAGA hats and wearing NRA garb. They will pretend to be pro-gun people. Others posing as democrats holding anti-gun signs will stand on the side. The Antifa thugs, pretending to be pro-gun, will attack the sign holders. Making it look like the pro-gun people have started the violence. This is the plan. If you are attending the rally be aware. Be very careful.”
So it goes.
Exposing the Climate Change Fraud
US Government agencies like NOAA and the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) and its affiliate agencies are tasked with educating a trusting public about Earth’s ever-changing climate. However, the USGCRP’s climate assessments are little more than environmental propaganda, essentially junk science.
Tony Heller, who runs the website RealClimateScience.com, exposes malicious data manipulation by USGCRP and other government entities. A lifelong environmentalist who has used a bicycle for all of his local travel over the last 40 years, Heller holds a B.S. in geology (Arizona State University) and a Master’s in electrical engineering (Rice University).
Heller produced a video that exposes the fraudulent presentation of climate data by the U.S. Global Change Research Program. USGCRP cherry-picks the starting point of climate graphs to give the false impression that hot days, wildfires, sea level rise and other climate indicators are undergoing cataclysmic negative changes, when just the opposite is true. Heller’s video clearly shows this:
The next video provides a chronological look at the original IPCC investigation into global temperature changes, revealing how it was compromised by a desire to reach a certain conclusion, with senior scientists deliberately downplaying contradictions in the underlying data in order to present a tidy narrative. This shows how the fake climate change narrative was made. The “Hockey stick” chart is thoroughly debunked here:
Climate Gate 2.0 emails from several years ago shows how climate scientists like Michael Mann frequently used the phrase “the cause” in many of his emails. The details of what data have been suppressed are contained in this article.
Manipulating climate data – and coordinating that manipulation – has been the alarmists’ key in “proving” their bogus theories on anthropogenic global warming.
Congresswoman Luria Votes to Protect Older Americans from Workforce Discrimination
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Elaine Luria today announced the House passage of the Protecting Older Workers from Discrimination Act (H.R. 1230). This bipartisan bill would strengthen anti-discrimination protections for older workers to prevent ageism in the workplace.
“It is unacceptable that older Americans are routinely discriminated against in the workplace simply because of their age,” Congresswoman Elaine Luria said. “Ageism has no place in today’s society and Congress must stand strongly against it in order to ensure that we have the most competitive workforce in the world—which includes our seniors. I will continue to work across the aisle to ensure that seniors are treated with the respect that they earned.”
H.R. 1230 would restore the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), which was weakened by the Supreme Court’s 2009 verdict in Gross v. FBL Financial Services, Inc. This ruling overturned precedent, requiring individuals to prove that age discrimination was the sole motivating factor for the employer’s adverse action. The Protecting Older Workers from Discrimination Act would return legal standards to the pre-2009 evidentiary threshold to restore ADEA. It will also allow victims of discrimination to report a mixed motive claim to prove wrongdoing.
A 2018 study from the American Association of Retired People (AARP) found that three in five workers age 45 and older have seen or experienced age discrimination in the workforce. The Protecting Older Workers from Discrimination Act would address this by restoring workplace protections for older workers.
Congresswoman Luria has been an active advocate for American seniors. She is a cosponsor of the Older Americans Bill of Rights which seeks to uphold seniors’ fundamental rights. She also voted for the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3), which would lower the costs of prescription drugs for seniors
Senator Lewis Reports on week 1 of the General Assembly
While Session is only just underway, having been gaveled in at noon on Wednesday, January 8th, Richmond is busier than ever. A change in majority in both the House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate has brought about office moves, changes to Committees and changes to leadership. While we are still in E609 in the Pocahontas Building adjacent to the Capitol, there have been changes to my Committee assignments. I have been appointed Chairman of the Local Government Committee and will continue to serve on the Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources and Education and Health Committees. I have also been appointed to serve on the Commerce and Labor Committee and the Rules Committee. In addition, I will serve as Chairman of the Health Subcommittee in Education and Health and serve on the Joint Rules Committee, which is a bipartisan subset of both the Senate and House Rules Committees.
In addition to my Committee assignments, I am carrying thirty Bills and several Budget amendments. While I’m certain this will mean a very busy 2020 Session, I am looking forward to the added responsibilities, as they enable me to better serve the needs and priorities of the Sixth Senate District and the Eastern Shore.
I am carrying several Bills of interest to the Eastern Shore, including one of my top priorities: Cost of Compete Funding for Northampton and Accomack Counties. Without this funding in coming years, it will be increasingly difficult to compete with Maryland as we work to recruit and retain teachers here on the Shore. The Department of Education and our Fiscal Office are still working on the exact cost for the full implementation of the COCA program, but I have put in a Budget amendment as well as legislation to include both of our public school systems here on the Shore in the Cost of Compete designation originally given to localities in Northern Virginia.
In addition to COCA funding, I have put forth several Budget Amendments to further serve the Shore, as this is a Budget-writing year. My office has submitted a request for $7.3 million in additional funding for the Virginia Waterway Maintenance Fund which, in working with Delegate Bloxom, we established in 2018. In 2019, both Northampton and Accomack Counties were awarded grants from this fund that did not require local matches. These grants enabled both counties to complete the pre-dredge work for King Creek and Quinby Creek, with a goal of completion in July of this year and the intent to submit applications to actually dredge both creeks from July 2020 to July 2021 timeframe. Allocating additional monies to the Virginia Waterway Maintenance Fund will increase the likelihood of more of our navigable small channels and waterways being dredged on a faster timetable. I’ve also submitted a Budget Amendment to increase the current dollar amount allocated to our Riverside Shore Memorial Obstetrics program by $600,000, further enabling our hospital to serve the needs of our community.
I am continuing to work on other major issues pertinent to the Shore through legislation and Committee work, including Broadband infrastructure, the oversight of the menhaden fishery, funding improvements to our public school infrastructure, flooding and resiliency, water quality and affordable housing, among many others. I am looking forward to what I hope is a productive Session for the Eastern Shore and the Commonwealth.
While it is certain to be a busy year, there is nothing better than having visitors from home. We are in Session until Saturday, March 7th and are looking forward to visits from folks from Cape Charles to Chincoteague, and I encourage you to make it to Richmond if you are able. If you can, make sure to call our office ahead of time and our team will do everything we can to make sure I can get a few minutes with anyone making the trek from the Shore to our state Capitol. I also encourage everyone to monitor the activities of the legislature on the General Assembly website VirginiaGeneralAssembly.gov. I can be reached at our legislative email District06@senate.virginia.gov and while in Richmond by telephone at (804) 698-7506. Please do not hesitate to contact me on issues with questions about legislation or on issues of concern.
Anonymous: What’s really going on at Bay Creek
This letter was sent anonymously to the Mirror.
I would like to stay anonymous but feel the town should know the latest Bay Creek news.
Preserve Communities, who claim they want to be good neighbors with the town, plans to stop all non-residents from using any facility within Bay Creek– examples: Coachhouse, Golf Course, Beach Club, walking trails. They are selling “a lifestyle” and unless you are one of their club members you will be blocked.
We could not get a straight answer about current non-residents club members, whether their membership will be grandfathered or not. It sounds like, as of now, no non-property owners will not be able to join this special club “lifestyle”. Bay Creek will also be in direct competition with town businesses, new restaurants, a spa, and a new commercial retail shopping area.
Also, the new owners are in the process of taking amenities away from current property owners…amenities that have been included and paid for with HOA dues for years. Example: current pool and tennis courts will now become the racquet club, two sections of the South Beach will only be available to club members. Of course, the sections of the beach they are taking are the easiest to access and have been maintained for years with HOA dues.
Non-members will have to walk a good distance to use the beach.
Current residents who are now club members assume they are set, but I would imagine they will be getting a rude awakening as their dues skyrocket. Will their new membership contract be attached permanently to their properties and become mandatory, like it is with Preserve Community’s other properties???
In one webinar /conference call Preserve Communities mentioned getting the membership dues inline with their other properties. What does that mean, $300 maybe $500 a month with no limit on increases???
We are not getting any straight answer just a lot of corporate BS.
