The Cape Charles Public Works Department has done another wonderful job getting our beach ready for the upcoming season. You will notice the beach and dunes are more Sympatico, with a bit more beach to complement our incredible dune system. Thanks to this crew, Cape Charles now boasts one of the top bay or sound beaches on the East Coast.
You will notice that some parts of the beach are now No Entrar. Signs have been posted warning folks to stay off of the rocks, and not to enter the north section that was once part of the old ferry dock. The signs note that these areas are private property (??), and no trespassing is allowed.
You will also notice that the coal collier ships are back, queued up just outside of Cape Charles.

Editor’s Note: The beach is open all-year-round, but it still has to be cleaned up and groomed so it can be ready for actual summer-heavy use. That’s all we meant.

It was nice while it lasted. It’s private property I’m told. It was a nice little beach for picking seagrass and walking the dogs.

That property was sold and I believe the beach goes with it. So it’s a private beach now?
It’s been private since colonization. Property line extends to mean low water. Beyond that are waters of the Commonwealth.
Is it to mean low or to mean high tide ? It is my knowledge that it is to the mean high tide based on the last 19 years
