The Cape Charles Town Council recently held interviews to fill vacancies on several of the Town’s Boards and Commission.
Ms. Dolores Blackburn was appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Ms. Blackburn is a retired attorney with previous experience on Township Council, including several terms as Mayor, planning and land use boards in New Jersey. She served 14 years as an elected official for localities in New Jersey as well as serving on their planning boards.
Mr. Richard Burger was appointed to the Cape Charles Memorial Library Board. Mr. Burger is a retired teacher and school administrator from Maryland.
Mr. Kenneth Butta was appointed to the Planning Commission. Mr. Butta is a retired high school principal from the Richmond area. He has a Ph.D. in educational evaluation and an Ed.D. in educational leadership. He has a M.Ed. in reading education and was also a former English teacher.
Mr. Martin Mayer was appointed to the Historic District Review Board. Mr. Mayer is a research scientist and professor. He has a Ph.D. in public administration and urban policy and has a substantial interest in the Town’s history and the preservation of historic Cape Charles.
Mr. Dennis McCoy and Ms. Diane D’Amico were re-appointed to the Planning Commission, and Mr. Russ Dunton was re-appointed to the Wetlands & Coastal Dune Board.

Yes, they are . If you aren’t rubbing elbows with and kissing the hind quarters of Bay Creamers, you don’t stand a chance.

Actually, yes, I have. I have also run for town council twice. Bay creekers got it all. When I last interviewed for a board, the only questions I was asked were about what types of books I like to read etc…
It looks very much like a case of where the locals simply do not have the right credentials to serve on those boards from the looks of the credentials of those picked to serve on those boards, which require a higher level of knowledge and intelligence than is normally possessed by a local, which is why they get passed over.
“liberals hating liars”. seem to be the common theme…
They escape the states they have already ruined and bring their same policies south.
BTW… 80+ million will never consider “Joe China” the real president.
I not only have common sense and street smarts, I also have a bachelor’s degree, which I worked very hard for. It took me 34 years to complete. This was due to working, running a household, marriage,becoming a widow, and raising three children in a single parent household. I, therefore, have much life experiences that could benefit the town. But, alas, I am not rich and I don’t live in Bay Creek.

So, bottom line, then, you lack the proper credentials THEY are looking for, the way rich men look for trophy wives.
How do you know what my ” credentials” are? I have worked in the public sector, the private sector and dealt with many government Vendors in my career. I have also been mentored by a former town manager. I do not process to know everything in every subject, but I can giveanyone a run for their money. The degrees behind their names does not equal a hill of beans when actually dealing with real life issues.
