CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles has begun the process for its mid-year budget adjustment, with the Finance Department requesting input from all department heads, town officials said.
Department heads have been asked to submit any budget adjustment requests by early January. Once the requests are received, finance staff will review the submissions and prepare a proposed mid-year budget adjustment for discussion at the Town Council’s January meeting.
Town officials said it remains unclear whether the requested changes will exceed the one percent threshold that triggers a public notice requirement. That determination will be made after all departmental requests have been collected and reviewed.
If the threshold is exceeded, the town will issue a public notice in advance of any formal action by Council, in accordance with state and local budget requirements.
More details are expected to be available once the review process is complete and the proposed adjustment is finalized for Council consideration.

Adjusting a budget? Or laundering money?
Just read an interesting story about the recent Bell, California scandal on Wikipedia.com. Dang, if history does not always repeat itself, at least sometimes it rhymes.
