The Cape Charles Community Enhancement Board (CEB) Main Street Virginia program is growing. We are excited to announce that Michele “Shelly” Gorman has joined our team as a Program Manager and will be jointly reporting into Brent Manuel and The Community Enhancement Board. Shelly started in her official capacity in early January.
Ms. Gorman makes $21.00 per hour for 20-30 hours work per week. She is a part-time employee of the town, with no benefits other than accrual of 4 hours of vacation and sick leave per month worked.
Gorman has held a variety of roles in workforce and entrepreneurial development, global consulting, stakeholder relationship management and program leadership for over 15 years. She is excited to partner with the town, Board and community of Cape Charles in building our Main Street program. She was raised in Saudi Arabia and has traveled globally extensively, but realized that there is no place that she would rather be than Cape Charles. This “come-here” also has a MBA to round out her personal and professional experiences. “I am thrilled for the opportunity to partner with the incredibly passionate and dedicated board and Cape Charles community. I look forward to becoming an official Main Street Virginia designated community in the near future,” Ms. Gorman said.
She has hit the ground running, working to help get the word out about this weeks exciting news as Coastal Living named Cape Charles as on of America’s happiest seaside towns. Her other responsibilities will be to lead volunteers through the four-point main street approach.
“Shelly has a combination of strong interpersonal and organizational skills which will be evident as she works with the residential and businesses communities to enhance the Cape Charles area” said Tammy Holloway,Vice Chair of the CEB.
As Ms. Gorman acclimates to the job you will find her out in about in town, so keep an eye open for her posted “Main Street Chat” times that she will be hosting at local restaurants. “It will be a chance to stop by, say hi and ask her any burning questions you have,” said Andy Buchholtz, Chair, of the CEB.

I don’t know your mandate, but if it is partially to promote the CC business district, please consider the impact upon the retail merchants loss of available parking. The Town appears to be behind the curve on this issue, and it needs to put it at the front of its agenda.
