The current agreement with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries at the harbor includes the two double-wide ramps, three launch piers, loading pier, and the ramp parking lot. DWR is responsible for capital improvements and the Town is responsible for normal maintenance and repair.
Currently, no fee may be charged for the use of the facility.
Thursday, the town council agreed to not renew the agreement. There is no automatic renewal clause.
The town is opting to take control and develop a long-term strategy for the ramps.
The main goal is to be able to attach a fee for use of the landing which may provide a funds for maintenance and repair.
According to the staff report, “charging a fee would better align cost recovery to the actual users.”
The last inspection found that the concrete ramps and pier pilings
were in good repair, however, the undercarriage and decking need replacement in the near term. No cost has been determined for the project.

This is complete bullshit. The town did not pay to put that dock in and it’s wrong to take it away from the public. If the town had BRAIN ONE they would simply start charging a fee to any boater that isn’t from the shore. I think this is nothing but a leasing point. Making the dock more lucrative. Just one more way of the town screwing the locals!
