CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board (HDRB) approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for the construction of a new single-family residence on the vacant lot at 224 Jefferson Avenue. The applicant is seeking approval to build a 1,410-square-foot, two-and-a-half-story home that incorporates a blend of modern and traditional design elements while adhering to the town’s historic preservation standards.
The proposed design includes a 30’ x 8’ (240 square feet) front and side porch, spanning both one and two stories, and a screened second-floor rear porch. Notably, the plan also features an enclosed outdoor shower under the stairs, adding a functional yet distinct architectural element to the home. Additionally, the project includes the installation of sidewalks along the front and west side of the lot, as well as a walkway.
