Cape Charles, VA – The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board has announced a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will focus on reviewing Certificate of Appropriateness applications for proposed developments within the historic district.
Two applications are set to be discussed during the meeting:
- 645 Mason Avenue: The applicant seeks approval to construct a 2,008 sq. ft. commercial building with a front canopy over the entrance, two drive-through lanes covered with a canopy, and a parking lot. The proposed development is anticipated to bring new commercial activity to the area, enhancing the streetscape while adhering to the architectural guidelines of the historic district.
- Tax Map #83A3-4-X (Strawberry Street Plaza): The applicant is seeking approval to install removable umbrellas and picnic tables in Strawberry Street Plaza. This addition aims to provide residents and visitors with an inviting outdoor space to enjoy leisure activities while preserving the historic character of the plaza.
These applications will undergo review by the Historic District Review Board to ensure that proposed developments are in line with the preservation goals and aesthetic integrity of the Cape Charles Historic District.
