CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Human Resources Manager provided a detailed update on the department’s recent activities, focusing on recruitment efforts, training initiatives, and administrative tasks.
A significant portion of the week was dedicated to recruiting for the Treasurer’s position. The job posting is currently active on multiple platforms, including LinkedIn, VML, PSHRA, TAV, Va-GOFA, Indeed, and Virginia Pilot Online, with the latest publication in the Post on Friday, July 19. The Human Resources Manager has conducted numerous conversations and Zoom meetings with applicants, with interviews scheduled to begin in early August.
In addition to recruitment efforts, the Human Resources Manager addressed a personnel issue and attended the Annual Virginia Legislative update hosted by PSHRA, presented by Kaufman and Canoles. Discussions with Katie Nunez centered on training options for town employees, considering Fred Pryor training as a comprehensive resource.
Several health insurance invoices were reconciled, and a virtual meeting was held with NeoGov to explore their online platforms for recruiting, training, and compliance. NeoGov is recognized for its extensive and appealing features.
Collaboration with the town’s insurance broker and Telehealth provider is underway to modify the invoicing method. The Human Resources Manager also engaged with the Hampton Roads recruitment representative for Virginia Media to discuss strategies for the Treasurer position. The representative, who visited Cape Charles during the Chamber Fest and was impressed by the town, proactively reached out after seeing the job ad online.
The Human Resources Manager also met with a citizen to address questions related to the town, reached out to the VEC regarding an unemployment claim (without receiving a response), and continued to manage ongoing payroll, benefits, finance, and personnel matters.
Two years, this project is complete.
