This week, we noticed that the comments section on the Mirror had reached over 17,000. Yes, that is 17k comments from all of you. Never perfect, the comments section contains the good, the bad, and the ugly. But like the Mirror, it is merely a brief reflection of things.
We have had many complaints about this section, mainly that we allow some discourse that is frowned upon to be available for reader consumption. But, that is the rub, isn’t it?
If anything, love them or hate them, they are the community. Comments build the relationship between the readers.
Moreover, we ask the readers to comment and to give their suggestions. So, readers tend to comment freely on the Mirror expressing their ideas. Not only do they comment, but also they have a discussion about the topics at hand. Does it sometimes get heated and ugly? Yes.
While we wish it was always civil, we understand it is the interaction and exchange of ideas that really matter.
Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to read, reflect, and comment on many of the articles that have appeared in the Cape Charles Mirror.

At this point it should be perfectly obvious that commenters don’t mind it getting ugly.
However.
Doxxing, stalking and threats of violence are way out of line and must come to an end.
Unfortunately, it probably means a little more work for you.
If you or I had traveled north, given him what he was asking for, he would have called the police after he was forced to take his medicine. He would then sleep on it and call a lawyer and sue you for the injuries that would have occured while he was forced to take the medicine. It has been my experience that most men today, from 18-80 years old, will bait you into a fight, but their ultimate goal is to call the police on you for whipping their a$$, then call their lawyer for a civil suit to pay for the physical and mental injuries they experience. I called a chump two years ago, to straighten out a curve from 30 years ago. 15 minutes went by after I hung up and a deputy from Northampton called on the chump’s behalf…..Cowards one and all.
