CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Museum is inviting residents, visitors, families and local businesses to become a permanent part of the town’s history through a new engraved brick fundraising campaign.
The “Leave Your Legacy. Build Our History.” campaign offers supporters the opportunity to purchase personalized engraved bricks that will be installed along the museum’s entrance walkway. Organizers say the project will both enhance the museum grounds and help fund its ongoing mission of preserving Cape Charles’ rich railroad, maritime and community heritage.
According to the fundraiser, each personalized brick is intended to serve as a lasting tribute while helping future generations connect with the stories and people that shaped Cape Charles.
“Your personalized brick will be placed on the walkway leading to the museum—becoming a lasting part of the path that honors our past and inspires our future,” the campaign states.
The fundraiser offers two purchasing options:
- 4-by-8 engraved brick: $100
- 4-by-8 engraved brick featuring the Cape Charles Museum logo: $125
Individuals may commemorate family members, honor loved ones, celebrate businesses or organizations, recognize veterans, or simply leave a personal message that will become a permanent part of the museum grounds.
The campaign reflects a growing trend among museums and historical organizations that use engraved brick programs to raise funds while giving supporters a visible, enduring connection to their community.
Located in the restored historic freight station, the Cape Charles Museum serves as one of the town’s primary repositories for photographs, artifacts and exhibits documenting the area’s railroad heritage, maritime history, military service and everyday life throughout the community’s development.
Museum officials hope the brick walkway will become both a meaningful entrance feature and a lasting record of the people who have helped preserve Cape Charles’ history for future generations.
