CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Town planning and zoning officials have met with a realtor representing a prospective buyer for the Seabreeze Apartments property at Washington and Bay Avenues, discussing zoning regulations and ongoing compliance issues tied to the site.
According to Planning & Zoning, discussions included a review of the property’s zoning status and existing violations. The town also engaged with the liquidation trustee for the property owner to clarify the implications of a Notice of Violation issued by the Building Official. The violations and their connection to the zoning ordinance could impact the property’s legal, non-conforming use designation, which is subject to expiration under town regulations.
Officials provided documentation outlining these issues, ensuring that both the trustee and the prospective buyer understood the restrictions and potential hurdles related to the property’s redevelopment or continued use.
The Seabreeze Apartments property has been a subject of regulatory scrutiny–adherence to zoning ordinances will be critical for any future ownership and development plans.
No immediate decisions have been announced regarding the sale or resolution of the property’s zoning compliance matters.
Hopefully both the governing bodies and residents will wholeheartedly support reasonable redevelopment of this project. Everyone will benefit from taking this eyesore to another level which with all the other upgrades in that area become a true asset both from a tax revenue standpoint and overall property values increasing.
Do you kick puppies in your spare time, too?
The property is being reviewed for an upscale restaurant that will tie into the master beach plan.
Watch for it.
