CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Tuesday evening the Cape Charles Police discovered the body of Calvin Cummings in what authorities are investigating as a fatal stabbing. The stabbing occurred at the Myrtle Landing Apartments.
The Cape Charles Police Department responded to a call at the apartment complex, formerly known as Heritage Acres, according to Town officials. Upon arrival, officers found Cummings deceased at the scene.
The stabbing marks the first homicide this year in Cape Charles, a historic town of approximately 1,000 residents on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The Myrtle Landing Apartments, which recently underwent a name change from Heritage Acres, is located in the northern section of the town.
The police are working diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident. The department has enlisted support from neighboring law enforcement agencies and is coordinating closely with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office as the investigation develops.
As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing. Authorities have not released information about potential suspects or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Residents with information about the case are urged to contact the Cape Charles Police Department. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
