CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department released its weekly report detailing law enforcement activity and calls for service for the weeks ending Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, 2025.
Police Chief Jim Pruitt reported that routine building checks, traffic enforcement, code violation monitoring, and foot patrols were conducted as part of regular public safety operations.
For the week ending Sept. 5, officers responded to a range of incidents including citizen assists, a missing person, vehicle lockouts, a boat in the swim zone, a shots fired assist, noise complaints, business and residential alarms, a scam call, and reports of trespassing. Calls also included welfare checks, assisting EMS, a child not in a car seat, and aiding Virginia State Police with a wrong-way driver on Route 13.
During the following week, ending Sept. 12, officers handled citizen assists, large crowd control in Bayview, and the closure of the town pier. Additional calls involved suspicious activity such as subjects knocking on doors, an intoxicated male, trespassing complaints, a domestic incident, and a DUI arrest. Police also assisted with traffic control, lost items, a county assist, and a warrant attempt. Other reports included property damage, a residential alarm, and wildlife inside a building.
